Seeing Blue

Blue has always been one of my favorite colors; whether it be a dark navy or a cool, light shade of blue, I’ve always incorporated this color into my decorating. While I am all for choosing neutral paint colors for walls, I feel that any shade of blue can be a beautiful accent color used for...
Dining room hutches
China cabinets
Hanging dish holders
Key holders
Side tables

Living room accents
Fireplace mantels.
**A big Thank You to my sister, Holly, who let me photograph her beautiful house in Long Island (and chased Chris and Ella around the house so I could successfully take the pictures!!)
Have a great weekend!

Spring is almost here!

I can almost smell the crisp/fresh air of a bright spring morning...
I can't wait to open the windows, and bring in a little sunshine! What better way of bringing in some sunshine than decorating with it! Here are some vintage, Etsy finds... spring inspired of course!!!

I love vintage glass bottles... This one captures the clean, brightness of spring!

Decorating with white! Above is a milk glass vase, and below a plain white platter! These objects add a crisp, clean look to any home!

I also love vintage wire baskets! They could be used to store things, or just used as a pretty fixture!

Tin organizer...

This tin organizer is perfect for storing the mail or bills! Plus it's pretty! Like they say... "A place for everything and everything in its place!" Might as well make it pretty!
Enjoy!

Would you like some cheese with that "wine"?

I like to consider myself a "Wino"! In my definition, it means I've been to a few vineyards and participated in some tastings (with hopes of going to more) but mainly because I just love wine!
corks I've collected for my 10 yr old stepbrother who
one day has dreams of making a boat with them
Usually I buy a bottle each week...and like to try different brands and different grapes (each kind of wine refers to the actual grape that is used in making the wine). What attracts me to a particular wine at first is definitely it's outside appearance.......usually the price tag is what is the deciding factor in the end.  I have a similar attraction to wine bottles, as I do to most everything else in life....the EXPENSIVE kind!! But, at this point in my life, I have to stick to the affordable options....at least for now.
I also prefer red wine....so I'm going to start the first installment of  "Kirsten's Wine Review" with one of my favs.....with hopes of converting some of you white wine drinkers out there.

the Littlest Penguin Shiraz
South Eastern Austraila
price point: approx. $15.99/bottle
Full-bodied
Spicy with bold flavors of Plum and Blackberry
Pairs well with: spicy pastas, beef stew, filet mignon, ahi yellowfin tuna or veggie stirfrys
*rule of thumb: pair a heavier (fuller) wine with heavier foods*

a little closer look at the bottle so that you know
what you are looking for

My little sipping nook in the livingroom
where I like to relax, sip, blog, watch my
shows, or read my fav magazines
