This week I'm continuing my wine review with another red wine. The only difference is, I wanted to review a red wine that I had not yet tried myself.
This past summer, I turned the big 3-0!!! One of my favorite gifts from my mother was a subscription to a monthly wine club.....through "Moms Who Need Wine" California Wine Clubs. I would highly recommend this gift for the wine lover in your life. For me, my mom chose for them to send me one red and one white bottle every month. I loved them all.....BEST gift EVER!!! Because I recieved this subscription, I "liked" the "Moms Who Need Wine" on Facebook in order to recieve their reviews and links to their blog. One link lead me to a review of Barefoot Merlot....."cheap merlot that actually tastes good" is what the article concluded. So I just had to try it for myself. So here it goes......
The label on the Barefoot brand of wine is very appealing. With the most perfect baby footprint that changes color with the different grapes used in each variety of wine. It would be the prettiest addition to any babyshower or christening celebration.
Merlot grapes |
California
price point: approx $12.99
Full-bodied
flavors of boysenberry and chocolate. hint of anise.
pairs well with salmon and shrimp, lamb, mushroom and eggplant dishes, and CHOCOLATE anything!!!
In conclusion, I really enjoyed the subtle, velvety flavors of this merlot. And it really paired well with all the chocolate Cadbury eggs I've been munching on every night this past week. Try it out for yourself =)
